Forest Flame
This stained-glass mosaic honors the scarlet tanager. They arrive just as the oaks around me leaf out.
They are a welcome sight (and sound) when the they arrive during the annual bird migration, and every year I look forward to that first spring morning when I hear them up in the newly budding oaks. It continues to amaze me how hard they are to spot. I’ve spent too much time squinting up into the trees, until finally, i see the brilliant flash of red .
