GRASSHOPPER SPARROW

This piece was created to support a 2026 docuseries by filmmaker Jennifer Brown (@IntoNatureFilms) arriving later this year.

The film tells the story of the Florida grasshopper sparrow—one of the most endangered birds in the U.S. Their survival in the wild depends almost entirely on the health of the Florida dry prairie, a landscape that requires regular prescribed burns to remain open and habitable. Without these carefully managed fires, the sparrows lose their nesting grounds to overgrowth. It’s a powerful reminder of how much our intervention and habitat management matter for a species on the brink.
