WHAT LIES BENEATH

My goal with this mosaic was to emphasize the Blue Whale's size by carefully laying down a value shift in the water to give it a sense of depth, and by adding the ship for perspective. The ocean has always been very mysterious and a little bit daunting to me—so much life hidden just below the surface. I find myself drawn to it, but also a little bit hesitant at the same time.
